For example in 2017, she received a commission by Los Angeles Pierce College to compose Malala, Symbol of Courage and Peace for Wind Ensemble, Narrator, a programmatic based on the book “I am Malala, The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban,” by Malala Yousafzei. The piece follows the story of Malala and incorporates fragments of traditional Pashtun melodies and rhythms from Pakistan, jihadi chants, prayers from the Quran with western instruments, techniques, harmonies and form. This piece has been performed throughout the United States and the narration has been also translated into Italian and performed multiple times by the Italian Women Wind Orchestra in northern Italy. This passion is also evident in so many other of her compositions as well. Christin continues to develop her skills and voice in composition and arranging and is excited to focus more energy and time on it in the future.
